2011 Great Gorilla Run a Great Success
24 September 2011

Conservationist and television presenter Bill Oddie fired the starting pistol for 2011’s Great Gorilla Run - London’s best charity fun run - this morning.

Around 450 gorillas tackled a 7km course, which took them over Tower Bridge and past landmarks such as the Tate Modern and City Hall, much to the delight of hundreds of spectators. Australian, Norwegian, German and Dutch gorillas were among those going ape for the day, with the iconic event having already raised £150,000 for the award-winning conservation and poverty reduction projects of the Gorilla Organization.

"As always, the Great Gorilla Run has restored my faith in humans," Bill said after the race.

"Gorillas really do need all the help they can get so it's fantastic to see so many people going bananas in their name."

Registration for the 2012 Great Gorilla Run is now open, with the event set to take place on Saturday 22 September.

The 2011 Great Gorilla Run is sponsored by Gorilla Boogers Juicy Sweet Raisins who are delighted to be "raisin" funds for such a great cause.
