Scaling Africa's peaks for gorillas
09 November 2017

A team of international mountaineers, scientists, journalists and explorers have set off on the adventure of a lifetime: to summit seven African peaks, back-to-back, in seven weeks.

The #7SummitsAfrica Challenge will see the team travel through five African countries - Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo - between now and the end of December, scaling the highest mountains in each. These peaks will be Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Kenya, Mt Stanley & Mt Speke, Mt Meru, Mt Karisimbi and Mt Nyiragongo.

As well as enjoying the physical challenge and the opportunity to enjoy some of the continent's finest scenery, the team aim to raise awareness of a range of critical conservation and ecological issues. As well as supporting wildlife rangers working in DR Congo, the team will also be fundraising for the Gorilla Organization, and will be bringing attention to the plight of critically-endangered mountain gorillas through their social media accounts.
