The Great Gorilla Run 2006 - What a Day!
21 December 2006

A massive thanks to all the gorillas that
took part in the 2006 Great Gorilla Run on Sunday 24 September and made it a day to remember.

It was a fantastic event, with lots of furry frolics, and sweating apes who took over the streets of London for the morning, and ensured that the Great Gorilla Run was definitely the most amusing charity event on London's calendar.

This year's race looks to be the highest fundraising Great Gorilla Run ever, so we'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our gorillas for your involvement in the run.

Thanks also to all of your friends, family and supporters who have generously made donations.

The money raised through the race will go such a long way to help the world’s last 700 mountain gorillas. To give you an idea of how the money is spent, in Rwanda, £400 will pay for a wildlife club in a school near the gorilla habitat, to train the young conservationists and green environmentalists of the future.

The same amount will pay for one month's ranger patrols in eastern Congo, where the hunt for minerals for mobile phones is devastating the gorillas' chances.

By taking part in the run and raising money, you can see that you can make a real difference.

We would also like to say thank you to Highland Spring, Delmonte, Theme Traders, Sporting Impressions, Jazz apples, Der Drink and Go Ape for supporting the race and helping to make it such a memorable day.

More gorilla fun…

The 2007 Great Gorilla Run will take place on Saturday 22 September.
