1. Do i have to name a specific charity or can I just leave money to a cause?
It's best to be specific - that's the only way to be sure your wishes are completely clear.
2.Do i need to tell the charity that I've included them in amy will?
It's not essential, but we would be delighted to hear from you if you have chosen to name the Gorilla Organization in your will.
3.What are the tax advantages of leaving money to charity?
If you leave money and possessions worth more than a set value, current £285,000, your beneficiaries (the people you’re leaving it to) may have to pay up to 40% inheritance tax on the amount over that threshold.
£285,000 may seem a great deal of money but if you include your home, you could find that your savings and possessions add up to more than that.
However, donations to charity are exempt from tax, so anything you leave to the Gorilla Organization is free of inheritance tax and we will receive the full amount. Ask your solicitor about the best way to use your will to reduce tax.”
4. What will it cost me?
When your solicitor is next updating your will, simply ask them to include a donation to the Gorilla Organization. It doesn’t need to cost anything extra if you are already revising your will.
5. Do I have to leave a lot?
It's really up to you. We would be very grateful for any amount you are able to afford and your donation will make a real difference to our work.
6. I want to include the Gorilla Organization -- what should I do next?
Simply tell your solicitor you want to include the Gorilla Organization in your will and what you want to leave, and they'll make the necessary changes. Our details are on the website or you can call us on 0207483 2681 to clarify.
