Great Gorilla Run is a great success!
27 September 2010

On Sunday 26 September, London braced itself for the eighth annual Great Gorilla Run. Each year the Great Gorilla Run seems to get better and better and this year’s run was no exception - yet again the event was an outstanding success!

Despite the slightly chilly start to the day the runners arrived en mass, wrapped up warm in their customised gorilla suits, and ready to take part in what has become one of the most iconic charity events of the year.

Conservationist, television presenter and national treasure Bill Oddie started the run with a rousing speech and London’s Mayor Boris Johnson wished the 600 runners luck on their 7km run through the City.

The press were out in force snapping and filming the gorillas as they bounded by, with BBC News, Sky News, the Daily Mail and London’s Metro all featuring the impressive spectacle!

Over £150,000 has already been raised by the Great Gorilla Runners and with money still flooding in it is hoped that over £200,000 will be collected to support the Gorilla Organization’s conservation projects in Africa.

Next year’s Great Gorilla Run will take place on 24 September – click here to sign up online today and guarantee yourself a place!
